CHIANTI CLASSICO 'MAGGIOLO' LAMOLE DI LAMOLE 2021 DESCRIPTION

Chianti Classico "Maggiolo" Lamole di Lamole is an authentic expression of the Chianti Classico area, one of the most significant places in Italy for the production of reds of sublime quality. The hill of Lamole is set in a context where time seems to stand still: farmhouses, fountains, villas and estates frame the lush vineyards. The estate opened its doors after World War II, thanks to the recovery of an old farmhouse and an underground cellar where the ageing rooms and the vinsantaia are now located; the land around it covers about 288 hectares, 40 of which are entirely planted with vines and completely under organic management since 2005. Respect for the environment and the ecosystem surrounding the vineyards has always been one of the winery's fundamental goals.

The Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes of Chianti Classico "Maggiolo" Lamole di Lamole are grown in the municipality of Greve in Chianti, right on the hill of Lamole. The wine's name derives from the iris flower, which has its peak bloom in May and whose delicate scents can be felt in the wine's bouquet of aromas. The altitude of the vineyards is between 420 and 655 meters above sea level; the soil is composed of galestro sandstone, Tuscan macigno and small amounts of alberese. The climate is characterized by cold winters, often affected by snowfall, and hot, sultry summers. Grapes are harvested from the first to the third week of October; the bunches in the winery are destemmed, and then the best grapes are selected. The must ferments with the skins in steel until late winter, keeping separate the Sangiovese, which ages for more than 1 year in oak barrels, Merlot and Cabernet in barriques for the same amount of time before being blended and bottled.

The colour of the Chianti Classico "Maggiolo" Lamole di Lamole is a brilliant ruby red with intense reflections; the nose releases hints of cyclamen, violet and hints of fruit such as mulberry, blackberry and blueberry with spicy notes of bitter cocoa and vanilla. In the mouth, it is enveloping, elegant and heady, with soft tannins well integrated into the overall structure, calibrated by the final freshness. Paired wonderfully with traditional red meat cuts seasoned with spicy spices and herbs, also excellent with legume soups. Perfect for accompanying family parties or important celebrations on occasions of lifelong friends, sharing a unique and inimitable product.
