Egly Ouriet's Extra Brut Grand Cru "V. P." is a label that is part of the prestigious Champagne range of a small artisanal Recoltant Manipulant Maison from the Montagne de Reims area. Egly-Ouriet cultivates its vines within the communal territories of famous villages classified as Grand Cru. It is a Champagne that expresses a cuvée of absolute excellence, made from two of the region's most popular varieties: pinot noir and Chardonnay. The extraordinary quality of the grapes, a traditional savoir-faire and long ageing on the lees are the secret to Champagnes of rare finesse and elegance, with a rich, complex and deep sip.
Champagne Extra Brut Grand Cru "V. P." is produced by a small Maison, which cultivates about 11 hectares of vines divided into several Grand Cru plots, which are located in mythical places in Champagne, such as Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay. The vines have an average age between 40 and 60 years and give grapes of extraordinary aromatic concentration. Founded towards the end of World War II, it soon came to prominence for its wines' extreme quality and cleanliness, the offspring of an absolutely extraordinary terroir characterized by the presence of limestone and deep layers of chalk, which give the wines refinement and definite mineral overtones. Herbicides, pesticides and chemical fertilizers are banned in the countryside to preserve the environment and the purity of the wines.
Egly Ouriet's "V. P." Champagne is an Extra Brut Grand Cru made from a blend of 60 percent Pinot Noir and 40 percent Chardonnay. At the end of the white vinification, the base wines rest for several months before creating the final cuvée. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Champenoise method, with a minimum ageing period on the lees of 6 years. In the glass, it is straw yellow in colour with slight copper highlights. The perlage is very fine and persistent. The bouquet expresses floral scents, aromas of citrus peel, ripe fruit, and dried fruit and bread crust nuances. The palate is deep and intense, with a harmonious lengthening towards an elegant, fresh and savory closure.
