Fattoria La Valentina's Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Superiore "Spelt" is a rosé made from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Cerasuolo represents a great wine of the Abruzzo tradition and retains its characteristic features of an intense, well-structured rosé with a decidedly gastronomic face. It expresses rich aromas of cherry, berries and pomegranate. The sip is rich, broad and harmonious, with fruity, juicy and dense aromas that accompany toward a fresh and savory finish.
The rosé "Spelt" is a Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo of great territorial typicity, perfectly expressing the profile of this historic wine without easy concessions to the fashions of the moment. The vineyards are located in the hilly territory of the municipality of Spoltore, near Pescara, at an altitude between 150 and 300 meters above sea level. The vineyard is over 40 years old and covers about two hectares, with southern, southwestern exposure and is cultivated according to the traditional Abruzzo pergola method, with a density of 1600-2000 plants per hectare and a yield that does not exceed 40 hectoliters/ha. The vocated medium-textured soils of a predominantly clay matrix and the Mediterranean climate, mitigated by breezes from the nearby Adriatic Sea, provide an ideal habitat for Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The grapes are harvested in October and fermentation is immediately carried out with 18-hour maceration on the skins in temperature-controlled steel vats. The wine rests for 4 months in steel tanks and is bottled without clarification or stabilization during the month of March following the harvest.
The wine Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Superiore "Spelt" La Valentina is a rosé wine with a strong personality, reflecting with its straightforward expressive immediacy the philosophy of the winery, which has always been committed to enhancing the characteristics of the grapes and the terroir, with minimal intervention in the cellar. The color is deep and bright pink. The olfactory profile is rich, with floral scents of rosehips, aromas of cherries, wild strawberries, red berries and pomegranate. The palate has good structure, with vinous, soft and aromatically rich sip. The finish is fresh and savory, with a slight tannic sensation. A perfect rosé to enjoy with a charcuterie board, meat carpaccio or fish soup.
