"Terre Brune" is a Carignano del Sulcis Superiore with which the Santadi winery expresses its vision of the Sardinian terroir: it is an energetic and tannic red wine, capable of conveying not only all the grace of the type and autochthonous vines used, but above all a great territorial adherence, which in the glass is revealed thanks to a slight sensation of Mediterranean scrub, which recalls the characteristic wild nature of southern Sardinia.
The Santadi winery cultivates the grapes from which this Carignano del Sulcis Superiore "Terre Brune" is obtained in vineyards trained with the alberello system, which have the characteristic of being ungrafted, that is, still in possession of their own roots, not affected by phylloxera. The Carignano grapes, to which 5% of Bovaleddu is added, after a strictly manual harvest, ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, and then mature in French oak barriques for a period between 16 and 18 months. Once bottled, the wine continues its maturation, directly in glass, for another 12 months.
"Terre Brune" is a Carignano del Sulcis Superiore which, when viewed, takes on an intense color reminiscent of ruby. The nose is dominated by sensations that recall fruit jam, alternating with hints of sweet spices and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it impresses with its muscular, enveloping, and powerful sip, and with its excellent tannic structure, a prelude to a sip in perfect balance with the aromas already perceived during the olfactory analysis. It is a label with an important structure, which therefore requires gastronomic pairings that can enhance its qualities; excellent to try with game dishes and red meats prepared in a stew: you won't regret it!
