The Cannonau Riserva 'Inu' Contini is a rich and intense Sardinian red wine made from Cannonau and other local red grapes. Aging in wood gives it slight spicy nuances, of licorice and cinnamon, that accompany the notes of red fruits, plum and blackberry, while the palate offers a full and enveloping sip, with silky tannins and a long, lingering finish. To be paired with typical meat dishes of Sardinian cuisine
The Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva 'Inu' from the family-run estate Contini represents a full-bodied and enveloping interpretation of Sardinia's most famous grape variety. Located in the heart of the Sinis peninsula, a place of great historical and landscape interest, the Contini family has been dedicated to promoting the viticultural excellences of the area since the late 19th century. The Cannonau 'Inu' belongs to the "Eccellenze" line, representing the most prestigious expression of Cannonau produced by the winery.
'Inu' Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva Contini is derived from a solid base of Cannonau grapes with an additional 10% of other black grape varieties from the area. In particular, it is a selection of grapes from the Terre di Ossidiana, Monte Arci, and central Sardinia vineyards, planted on volcanic soils at altitudes ranging up to 200 meters above sea level. After the harvest, the grapes are transferred to the winery and undergo red vinification through alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with 10-15 days of skin maceration. This is followed by soft pressing and then aging for 12 months in barriques and tonneaux of first and second passage before bottling and further resting for at least 6 months in glass.
The Cannonau di Sardegna Contini Riserva 'Inu' has a dark ruby red color with garnet reflections. Intense aromas of ripe black berries, plum, and hints of licorice and spices like cinnamon emerge on the nose. The palate is full, rich, and enveloping, with a silky tannic texture and a pleasant savory finish supporting its overall good structure. Due to its substantial structure, this Cannonau pairs well with savory dishes such as first and second courses of red meats or aged cheeses.
