The Calvados Selection by Christian Drouin is typical of the Domfront area, a sub-zone of Calvados. It is made from 70% pear and 30% apple cider and matured for 3 years in oak barrels. It is a fresh, light and very fruity expression, ideal in the preparation of cocktails and aperitifs
The Selection Calvados Christian Drouin is an international fame spirit, whose aroma reminds an ancient and precious tradition, passed down within family Drouin. In 1960, driven by love for nature, Christian Drouin bought the Fiefs Sainte-Anne in Lower Normandy and founded the distillery. Since 1989 Christian Drouin son has managed it at an old riding stables, which has been renamed "Domaine Coeur de Lion". The Calvados was born in the mountains' fertile soils, in Gonneville's particular terroir, and is made with poiré pear juice, matched with apple juice. In opposition to the Calvados Pays d'Auge, which is aged in oak barrels and over the years takes on more mature notes, the youngest Calvados Domfrontais is characterized by a rich bouquet of aromas and fruity flavors. It is the second spirit to be recommended by the founder as the first meeting in the refined Calvados experience. Perfect times to fully live its saveur are happy hour and coffee time, as suggested by family Drouin. In the ancient "Trou Normand" ceremonial that spirit is the main character, as a pleasant interval between the banquet's courses, reviving the diners' appetite thanks to its digestive qualities. From several years the Christian Drouin Calvados Selection is appreciated and exported outside its country boundaries, giving moments of pleasure even to the heroes of modern novels ... Calvados has always been in coeurs des grands hommes.
