Fattoi's Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine of great structure and intensity, aged for 3 years in oak barrels. Elegant notes of red fruit, dried rose and spices emerge from a concentrated, full-bodied texture that is broad, energetic and enveloping
The Brunello di Montalcino of the Tuscan Fattoi estate is an expression that floods from the glass in elegance, produced in the Capanna locality, in the southern part of the Ilcinese production area. Ofelio Fattoi bought the property in 1965 and fourteen years later, in 1979, started the winemaking business, basing production on the close relationship with the noble tradition of the place. Today, the approximately 10 hectares under vine are managed by Ofelio's sons, Leonardo and Lamberto, who with passion and expertise exclusively raise Sangiovese Grosso, the area's prince variety.
Fattoi Brunello di Montalcino is a 100% Sangiovese Grosso from vines up to 25 years old, located about 350 meters above sea level. The rows enjoy the sandy and clay composition of the soils, Mediterranean climate and excellent exposure. The grapes are harvested by hand approximately at the beginning of October and then undergo destemming and crushing, with the resulting must fermenting in stainless steel tanks in contact with the skins for 15-20 days. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is racked into large 40-hectoliter oak barrels and 350-liter French oak tonneaux for aging for at least 3 years. This is followed by an additional long period of bottle aging before release.
On visual examination, Fattoi's Brunello di Montalcino reveals a luminous ruby-red dress with a garnet rim. Broad and refined on the nose, described by hints of small red fruits, dried rose petals, aromatic herbs, underbrush and various spices. Intense and elegant taste, fresh and flavorful, with an enveloping tannic texture that accompanies the harmonious and lasting finish. By virtue of its remarkable territorial adherence, this Brunello di Montalcino can be paired with traditional local dishes such as pappardelle with wild boar ragout.
