Brunello di Montalcino by Caparzo has been one of the symbolic red wines of the Tuscan area for 50 years: robust and strongly territorial. Aged in large barrels for at least 3 years, it shows an intense ruby red tending to garnet, accompanied by a penetrating bouquet of ripe cherries, earthy sensations and nuances of mint and tobacco. The sip is full and vibrantly structured, with sweet tannins and long persistence
Caparzo's Brunello di Montalcino is an intense and elegant red wine with a long history behind it. Bottled for the first time in 1970, it still represents the symbolic label of a historic winery in the area. It is the Brunello that best represents the style of the winery, a true synthesis of the estate. Caparzo is one of the few wineries in Montalcino that has vineyards located on various sides of the hill, with different exposures, altitudes and soils. A richness that allows the best wines to be chosen and blended, to create a Brunello with a harmonious and balanced profile every year, regardless of the climatic trend of the vintage.
Brunello di Montalcino Caparzo is the fruit of the work of a historic winery in the area, which already produced wine in Montalcino forty years ago. Caparzo manages a splendid estate of about 90 hectares, mainly planted with Sangiovese Grosso vines, set in an environment of wild and uncontaminated nature. Brunello comes from a selection of grapes from four different parcels, which are located in different areas in terms of microclimate and soil composition. The vineyards are cultivated in the northern area in the locality of Caparzo; to the south-west in the La Caduta vineyard; to the south in the locality of Il Cassero; and finally in San Pietro on the eastern side of the hill. After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of between 28-30 °C, with maceration on the skins for about ten days. The wine matures for at least 36 months in large casks and completes its ageing with 6 months in the bottle.
The Brunello di Montalcino by Caparzo represents a fine version of one of Tuscany's most prestigious reds. To the eye, it is ruby red in colour with garnet reflections. Elegant and refined, it expresses aromas of cherry, morello cherry, small berries, floral nuances, and light hints of spices and wild herbs. The palate has a good structure, with intense, complex aromas, supported by a dense, ripe tannic texture. The sip possesses a clear expressive tension and stretches out harmoniously towards a fresh, balsamic and balanced finish, with good taste persistence. This is a classic version, ideal for getting to know the traditional face of this great wine.
