The Barolo "Serralunga" by Principiano is a full-bodied, assertive wine, aged for 24 months in barrel, with excellent value for money. Very elegant floral and spicy notes stand out on the nose. The taste is full, fresh and juicy
Barolo di Serralunga Principiano represents in a faithful and authoritative way the characteristics of the well-known commune, standing as one of the Barolos with the best value for money. Over the years, Ferdinando Principiano has become an absolute point of reference for those in search of classic wines, faithful to the territory and genuine, embarking on a path not taken for granted given the family traditions already ingrained. In fact, taking over the family business in 1993, Ferdinando decided to make a decisive turn, excluding from the vineyard the use of any chemical or synthetic substance, resuming to perform every process in an artisanal or manual way, and limiting or even excluding the use of sulfur. Needless to say, the results have unquestionably rewarded him, and today, almost 30 years later, he is counted among the best traditional producers of Barolo while maintaining affordable prices.
Barolo "Serralunga" is made from pure Nebbiolo grapes from young vineyards located in the commune of Serralunga D'Alba. Farming without the use of chemical or systemic products and low yields is just the prelude to equally meticulous work in the cellar, where all fermentation takes place spontaneously and where the liquids do not undergo filtration or clarification. The liquid ages for 24 months in 20- and 40-hectoliter barrels.
Principiano's Barolo "Serralunga" presents itself in the glass with the classic ruby colour edged with garnet reflections. The nose expresses with typicality and sharpness all the characteristics of Barolo from Serralunga, in a profile made of ripe cherry, dried violet, dog rose and liquorice. The mouth is also Langhe to the core in a wine where the combination of sculpted tannin and spraying freshness punctuates the sip. Needless to speak, persistence in wines like this is obviously very long. Sartorial expression of terroir.
