The Barbera signed Giacomo Fenocchio is a red wine of good structure and intensity, aged in Oak barrels. It opens on hints of fresh young fruit, with notes of violets and roses and a slight spiciness on the finish. The palate responds with equal energy: long and balanced flavor
Giacomo Fenocchio's Barbera d'Alba Superiore is a rich, fruity wine made in the lands of the Langhe from the red grape variety most representative of Piedmont's great folk tradition. For centuries Barbera wine has been the daily table companion of the area's typical dishes. Fenocchio's version, by virtue of a good period of ageing in wood, gives us back a face of Barbera that goes beyond fragrant fruity immediacy. While retaining the typical varietal profile, it is a red of good structure and complexity, with ripe and evolved aromas that enrich the sip with interesting tertiary notes.
Barbera d'Alba Superiore wine comes from an old family of winemakers in the Monforte d'Alba area, who, starting in the 1970s, began to make a name for themselves among wine lovers for the artisanal nature of their wines. Today the estate covers a total of 14 hectares, with some particularly fine vineyards in the famous cru of Bussia, Cannubi and Villero. The vineyards are cultivated with great care, trying to maintain the natural balance of the vines and the right biodiversity between the rows. Winemaking is always very respectful of the raw material, with processes that minimize oenological interventions so that the varietal character of the grapes is always left in the foreground.
Giacomo Fenocchio's Barbera d'Alba Superiore red wine comes from an area now devoted almost exclusively to the cultivation of Nebbiolo but where some important Barbera vines still survive, capable of yielding great wines. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and a maceration period on the skins of about ten days. The wine then matures for 10 months in Slavonian oak barrels. In the glass, it has an intense ruby red colour with garnet reflections. The nose gives aromas of cherry, small red berries and delicate spicy nuances. The palate has a good structure, with a fine and delicate tannic texture, a sip with pleasantly juicy and fruity aromas, preceding a lingering finish characterized by a pleasant freshness. Fenocchio's wines are appreciated precisely for preserving an authentic and traditional taste, far from drifts influenced by international standards.
