Enzo Boglietti's Barbera d'Alba is a red wine capable of combining freshness and roundness, characteristics proper to this grape variety native to Piedmont. Although the origins of Barbera are very ancient, the first mention of this variety dates back to the 17th century, and the document is still preserved at the town hall of the municipality of Nizza Monferrato, an area that along with the Langhe is considered the chosen home of this grape. Moreover, thanks to the marked acidity, fine tannins and natural smoothness of the resulting wines, Barbera turns out to be among the most widespread red grape varieties in Italy.
Enzo Boglietti Barbera d'Alba is made from only Barbera grapes grown organically within the communes of La Morra, Roddino and Sinio. Following harvest, the bunches are transferred to the winery and mash in stainless steel tanks for temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation associated with a week of maceration on the skins, during which daily punching-down and pumping-over is carried out to encourage extraction of the compounds. The ensuing aging phase lasts 6 months and takes place between steel and wooden barrels before bottling.
Barbera d'Alba from the Langa winery Enzo Boglietti possesses a dark ruby red color, bright and consistent. Intense fruity scents of cherry, plum and berries emerge on the nose, supported by hints of sweet spices. The taste is characterized by silky mouthfeel and juicy freshness, as well as a fine tannic texture that contributes to the overall smooth sensation. This is a bottle of exceptional versatility in food-wine pairing, to be paired with platters of aged cheeses and cured meats, flavorful risottos or various meat preparations.
