The Barbera d'Alba "Bricco del Cuculo" by Castle of Verduno is already fascinating that the name. The name comes from the large presence of these birds, the cuculo, that in the spring populate the wooded areas of the Bricco and Pan of Cuculo, a wild flower that blooms with the first warm days after winter. We are in the town of Barbaresco, on a vineyard of Barbera grape variety grown to 100% , with soil clayand limestone, placed on top of a hill with steep tri-orientated facing east, south and west. The Barbera d'Alba "Bricco Cuculo" by Castle of Verduno follows a traditional winemaking begins in late September with the manual harvest and maceration in stainless steel tanks for 15 days. The wine then followed by an aging of 14 months in Slavonian oak barrels and 8 months in stainless steel vats, then relax and rebalance for 4 months in the bottle before its commercialization. This production process is followed with commitment and passion oenologist Castle Verduno that follows the philosophy of minimizing intervention in the cellar; all focusing are on the patient and watchful care of the fruit in the vineyard.
