The rebirth of Piedmont viticulture, under the sign of a vision conceptually linked to the innovation of production processes, on a business model of international-style wine, is indisputably linked to the name of Angelo Gaja: a precursor with his ideas, pursued by ’60 years after a careful observation of the world wide scene production. Creator of a unique style based on abatement of yields per hectare, with the aim of pursuing a higher quality of the grapes, and in Italy the first messenger of wine-making techniques based on temperature control and on refining in barriques, Angelo Gaja made of Barbaresco his main banner, chasing a quality level of single thickness. Produced from rigorous selection of grapes from 14 vineyards located in the towns of Barbaresco and Treiso, Barbaresco Gaja lends itself to embody the multifaceted nature of the terroir of birth, composed of clay-rich marl limestone typical of the Langhe. And if in the production phase accompanied a long maceration extraction of balanced body and aroma, the formula for the accrual of Gaja Barbaresco is a chemistry that made it perfect: 1 year in oak barrels, 1 year in large oak barrels, 1 year in bottle, because openness to modernity does not diverge too much from the tradition. Thus, vintage after vintage, the Gaja Barbaresco make history, although its real essence is timeless, like all that remains in memory beyond a single tasting, wine par excellence, or, more simply, Barbaresco.
