Borgo San Daniele Arbis Blanc constitutes a precious Friulian expression born from a blend of different grape varieties strongly linked to the area's winemaking tradition. The term "arbis," the label's name, comes from the ancient Friulian dialect and translates to "grasses," in reference to the fact that the vineyards from which the grapes come are left grassed with wild herbs, periodically mowed. The grassing technique promotes biodiversity and, at the same time, results in the establishment of healthy competition between the turf and the vineyard that contains the vigour of the vines, promoting the perfect ripening of the grapes.
Borgo San Daniele's Arbis Blanc consists of a blend of Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, in varying percentages depending on the vintage. The vineyards are located within the San Leonardo locality in the municipality of Cormons and are managed under a certified organic and biodynamic system. Harvesting is carried out differentially according to the ripeness of each grape variety, and the grapes are then initially vinified separately and only at the end of alcoholic fermentation assembled. The ensuing maturation period takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months on the fine lees.
In the goblet, Mauri Vignaioli's Arbis Blanc Friulano Borgo San Daniele exhibits a bright straw-yellow robe with golden flashes. The olfactory mosaic is composed of persuasive aromas of white-fleshed fruit, pineapple, herbs and wildflowers, adorned with pleasant mineral and acacia honey echoes. Taste development is full, rich in structure and concentration, and well balanced by the vibrant freshness that gives a nice drinkability to the sip. The closure shows a soft and buttery component that persists for a long time, along with mineral sensations.
