Ettore Germano's Alta Langa Extra Brut is a vintage sparkling wine that is aged over 30 months on the lees and has an intense straw-yellow colour and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose reveals aromas of bread crust and yeast, dried fruit and bitter almonds, accompanied by a savoury note. The palate is creamy with a good salty persistence
Ettore Germano's Alta Langa Extra Brut is the fruit of the desire of a great name in Barolo from Serralunga d'Alba to also try his hand at the Metodo Classico. The area south of the Langhe, towards the foothills of the Ligurian Apennines, is particularly suited to making excellent sparkling wine bases for the Metodo Classico. The cuvée includes a majority percentage of Pinot Noir, which gives structure and backbone, and a balance of Chardonnay, which brings the floral and fruity elegance typical of the variety. The result is a Millesimato of an excellent level, surprising for its refined aromatic richness and its fresh and savoury profile. It is an ideal bottle to enjoy throughout a meal.
Extra Brut Alta Langa is produced by a very famous winery in the Langhe region, one of the best interpreters of the splendid Serralunga d'Alba area and its most renowned crus. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards are cultivated at an altitude of approximately 550 metres above sea level with eastern exposure. The very cool climate and the predominantly calcareous, skeleton-rich soils are ideal for the two French varieties that play a leading role in Champagne. The grapes of the two varieties are vinified separately, with soft pressing and fermentation at a low temperature. After several months of maturation on fine lees, the base wines are blended to create the cuvée, which is re-fermented in the bottle according to the Metodo Classico, with a minimum of 30 months on the lees before dégorgement. The bottles are filled with the same sparkling wine base, without adding any liqueur d'expedition.
Ettore Germano's Alta Langa Extra Brut is a label that can fearlessly compete with the best bottles from other, much more famous Italian appellations dedicated solely to the production of Metodo Classico. It is a vintage wine of great expressive purity, bringing to the glass the perfect synthesis between high quality grapes and the terroir of Alta Langa. Its straw yellow colour is traversed by a very fine and persistent perlage, with complex aromas ranging from floral hints to notes of bread crust, ripe fruit and dried fruit. Intense and well-structured, it conquers the palate with a long, deep sip that underlines its gastronomic vocation. A must try for all lovers of the Metodo Classico.
