The Aglianico Riserva 'Contado' from the well-known Molise winery Di Majo Norante is a structured, Mediterranean expression that is never heavy, however. This winery in Campomarino, Campobasso province, has managed over the years to combine quality, quantity and sustainability of production, establishing itself as one of the most important wineries in southern Italy. Today the estate is led by Alessio Di Majo Norante, who continues the work of enhancing the oenological Molise started by his ancestors back in the 1800s, respecting tradition but not giving up constant research and experimentation.
Di Majo Norante Aglianico 'Contado' Riserva is made with only Aglianico grapes from the Camarda vineyard, where the soils of a clay-limestone matrix are about 200 meters above sea level. The rows, having an average age of more than 20 years, are conducted under a certified organic system. In the winery, alcoholic fermentation takes place in small stainless steel fermenters with long maceration on the skins and subsequent complete malolactic fermentation. The ageing phase, on the other hand, takes place in wooden barrels of different capacities and lasts for about 18 months before bottling and further resting in the glass.
'Contado' Aglianico Riserva Di Majo Norante has a deep, consistent ruby red color with a garnet rim. Gourmand's spicy and toasty hints of chocolate and tobacco are accompanied by intense fruit and Mediterranean herb aromas.
