Classic Method Sparkling Brut Blanc de Blancs Griesel & Compagnie 2020

Griesel & Compagnie's Sparkling Wine Brut Blanc de Blancs is a 'Sekt,' a Classic method German sparkling wine from the smallest region of Germany that is, however, a soaring reality in the sparkling wine scene. Produced with Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, the base wine matures for 10 months in steel and partly in barrique, and undergoes a malolactic fermentation that gives pleasant roundness. The nose has fresh hints of apple and citrus fruit, with hints of toast and pastry completing the bouquet. On the palate it surprises with freshness and gracefulness: the soros is airy but vertical, quite intense and with clear complexity. Excellent with fish and even white meats

CLASSIC METHOD SPARKLING BRUT BLANC DE BLANCS GRIESEL & COMPAGNIE 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Metodo Classico Griesel & Compagnie Blanc de Blancs Brut Sparkling Wine is a German bubbly characterized by citrusy and toasty aromas. The establishment of the Griesel & Compagnie estate dates back to 2013, when Petra and Jürgen Streit decided to embark on the production of fine sparkling wines in the city of Bensheim, entrusting the management of the winery to the young Niko Brandner.

Griesel & Compagnie Metodo Classico Blanc de Blancs Brut Sparkling Wine originates from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc grapes in equal proportions. The vines grow on granitic soils and are cultivated using eco-friendly practices. Harvesting is done by hand and is followed by gentle pressing of whole clusters, with the resulting must undergoing spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks (70%), oak barrels (20%), and barriques (10%), the same wine containers where malolactic fermentation and 10 months of maturation take place. After this period, the wine undergoes bottle fermentation according to the Metodo Classico, associated with 24 months of aging on the lees. Throughout the production process, clarification and filtration operations are excluded, and the sparkling wine is finally dosed with just 2 g/l of residual sugars.

Visually, the Metodo Classico Blanc de Blancs Brut Sparkling Wine from Griesel & Compagnie reveals a pale straw yellow color with fine and abundant bubbles. Aromas of green apple and lemon zest describe the aromatic profile along with a strong mineral vein and hints of toasted almond and pastry. The taste is fresh, intense, and delicate, with good acidity and refined effervescence. The long-lasting taste brings pleasant citrusy and woody sensations consistent with the olfactory notes.
