Partida Creus represents the fulfillment of the dream of Antonella Gerosa and Massimo Marchiori, a couple of architects from Piedmont, who in 2001 decided to change their lives by leaving Italy to move to Catalonia and a few years later began to dedicate themselves to viticulture, in the name of sustainability and quality. The two found in the Penedès area, in the province of Tarragona, the ideal place to shape their new project. Right from the start, the couple invested time and energy in the recovery of native vines, some at risk of extinction, cultivating them with love and in true harmony with nature.
The plants, rooted on clay-limestone soils within a natural amphitheater surrounded by Mediterranean woods and shrubs, consist of very old vines. The vines raised include rare indigenous varieties such as Sumoll, Trepat, Garrut, Queixal de Llop, Ull de Perdiu, Cartoixa Vermelle, Bobal and Vinyater, as well as the more widespread Samsó and Garnacha grapes. The Piedmontese couple follow the dictates of organic and biodynamic agriculture, thus excluding the use of synthetic chemicals and performing agronomic operations according to the lunar calendar. Soil management is implemented with the help of a mare and a donkey in order not to over-compact the soil. No oenological additives are used in the winery, except for minimal doses of sulfur dioxide when really necessary, and fermentations take place strictly spontaneously. Throughout the winemaking process the masses are not subjected to any clarification or filtration.
The range of labels is wide and varied, including still whites, rosés and reds, orange wines and bottle-fermented. The illustrations affixed to the labels are very minimalist, reflecting the simplicity and authenticity of the production process. Refined interpretations of astounding energy and spontaneity that evoke the Mediterranean terroir from which they are descended.
