La Monacesca owes its name to a small core of Farfa monks who, in the tenth century, to escape the barbarian invasions in northern Italy, took refuge in this very valley, and built a church and a convent that today, well restored, are part of the village business. In 1966 Casimiro Cifola detects this farm and begins to impiantarvi screws, especially Verdicchio. In 1973 the first Verdicchio Monacesca The brand is marketed and soon met with much success.
