The Domaine Berthet-Bondet winery is located in the town of Château-Chalon in the French region of Jura. It was established in 1984 by Chantal and Jean Berthet-Bondet and still today preserves its original family character. The estate covers a total of 15 hectares, of which 4.5 hectares are Savagnin, within the Appellation Château-Chalon territory while the remaining 10.5 hectares are within the Côtes du Jura AOC area. The estate has always been managed with great attention to environmental issues and respect for nature, and since 2010, it has adopted an agronomic approach that is based on organic farming principles. Since 2013, the management has been in the hands of their daughter Hélène, who looks after the family estate with passion and expertise.

The Jura region is one of the most famous in France for the production of high quality wines with a strong personality. The region is particularly well suited to viticulture, thanks to its favourable soils and climate. Over the course of time, the Jurassic rock layer has been shaped to form hills and valleys, which today create an environment that has ideal exposures for vines. The vineyards are located at an altitude of between 200 and 400 metres above sea level. The soils are composed of disintegrating ancient rocks and moraine deposits, which are characterised by the strong presence of limestone. These are stony, rich in minerals and very draining soils, which alternate with compact marls of a calcareous-clayey origin. The climate is semi-continental, with hot summers, cold winters and considerable temperature differences between day and night.

The estate's vineyards were planted during the 1980s, with the exception of a few younger ones dating back to the 1990s or 2000s. The area is divided into numerous plots located in prestigious lieu-dit: at Château-Chalon la Sous-roche and La Petite Côte; at Domblans Gaillardon and Les Vieux; at Lavigny La Forge, La Poirière, Savagnier, Balanoz; at Ménétru Beaumont; at Nevy-sur-Seille Au Clieux de Trus; at Pannessières En Bréna; at Passenans Le Queue au Renad and Les Grandvaux. The steep, rugged slopes make mechanisation difficult and therefore work is carried out almost exclusively by hand, which requires a great deal of time and energy. The rows are planted with the classic vines of the area such as the famous Savagnin, which is one of the oldest varieties in northern Europe, as well as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and the indigenous Trousseau and Poulsard grapes.
