The Champagne Rosé de Saignée by Larmandier Bernier is a dry and deep champagne, born from Pinot Noir grapes with short maceration in the skins. Intense perfumes of citrus, blood orange and red berries accompany a tense and juicy taste, of great character
The Champagne Rosé Larmandier Bernier is a white fly in the production of this renowned winery in the heart of the Cote des Blancs. In fact, 90% of the vineyards are cultivated with Chardonnay, while this is a sparkling Pinot Noir, which gives great character and stands out in the excellence of Vertus production. For more than twenty years, the Larmandier family has decided to rely on nature and trust in its rules and evolution, conducting operations both in the vineyard and in the cellar following biodynamic principles, well ahead of their time. The company's philosophy stems on the one hand from the need to savour the terroir also in the wines, and on the other from the drive towards a lifestyle that rewards authenticity and naturalness.
Bernier's Champagne Rosé Extra Brut Larmandier has a 100% Pinot Noir blend, cultivated in smaller plots within the estate's 16 hectares in the Grand Cru of Vertus, in vineyards over 30 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand when perfectly ripe and sorted on a vibrating table, which only partially removes the stalks. The winemaking technique used is that of the Saignèe, which is quite common in the Champagne area: the grapes are macerated for 2-3 days, during which the colour is extracted from the skins, then fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in steel. An initial stay on the lees of one year is followed by re-fermentation in the bottle, and the wine is matured on the lees for 24 months.
The Champagne Rosè de Saignèe Larmandier Bernier draws attention to itself immediately: its colour is rosy but very intense, deep. The perlage is persistent and elegant, with a refined finesse. In the glass, it releases full scents of red fruit, with cherry predominating. Citrus, blood orange and grapefruit notes are added, which do not fade quickly, but are enriched with floral aromas. In the mouth, it is rich, round. Hints of citrus and small red fruits return, but light, subtle spicy corners are added to complete an intense, fresh bouquet. Coming across this Champagne can be a pleasant discovery and a pleasant surprise: one of those encounters that we would like to repeat more often in our lives!
