CHAMPAGNE EXTRA BRUT GRAND CRU 'MSNL' JEAN LOUIS VERGNON 2012 DESCRIPTION

The Champagne Extra Brut Grand Cru ‘MSNL’ by Jean Louis Vergnon is an expression of Chardonnay from the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, distinguished by its elegant mineral character, a distinctive feature of the terroir. For about two centuries and five generations, the Vergnon family has masterfully interpreted the character of the Côte des Blancs, particularly the prestigious territory of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, where most of the estate's vineyards are located, all dedicated to the uncontested sovereign of the area: Chardonnay.

The Champagne Jean Louis Vergnon Grand Cru Extra Brut ‘MSNL’ is a pure Chardonnay whose grapes come from two distinct parcels within the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger: Chetillons and Mussettes. After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo gentle pressing, followed by alcoholic fermentation of the must in stainless steel tanks, the same containers where the base wine matures for several months. Subsequently, bottle fermentation takes place according to the Champagne method, associated with a very long aging of at least 84 months on lees in glass, after which disgorgement and final dosage as Extra Brut are carried out, with 3 g/l of residual sugars.

The Champagne ‘MSNL’ Grand Cru Extra Brut by Jean Louis Vergnon has a straw yellow color with brilliant green-gold reflections and refined, persistent effervescence. Delicate aromas of white flowers and lemon zest emerge from the glass, embellished by complex hints of pastries, bread crust, and toasted almond. All these aromas are supported by an elegant mineral vein. The progression on the palate is smooth and creamy, with subtle effervescence that gives a velvety sensation and enhances the persistent, fresh, and mineral finish, characterized by a sharp savory stamp.
