Bitter produced by the distillery in the Marche region, Arbei, is perfect both for mixing and for drinking neat. It is mainly made with fresh bay leaves and an infusion of mixed herbs that give it herbaceous aromas and sensations. On the palate, it is bitter, smooth, harmonious and with a long taste persistence
Bitter Arbei stems from the desire to create an innovative and original version of a great classic in the world of spirits. Bitter has very ancient origins and is basically made from infusions of herbs, roots, barks and spices in an alcoholic solution. Used in centuries past as a medicinal or digestive preparation, it has always been characterised by a bitter taste. It is precisely from the word bitter in English or German that its name Bitter is derived. Arbei has decided to revive the tradition by creating a very personal interpretation, which is fundamentally based on using laurel as the main botanical, which connotes the entire taste experience with its aromas.
Arbei Bitter perfectly expresses the character of its place of origin. The idea for the bitter was born in the Marche countryside of Villa Rivo, located near Monsampietro Morico in the province of Fermo. The spontaneous flora of the area is characterised by the presence of wild laurel shrubs, which dominate a lush and fragrant Mediterranean scrub. It was, therefore, only natural to think of this plant as producing a bitter that was a child of the land and reflected its character in an absolutely authentic way. Laurus Nobilis is a plant that has always been known for its digestive properties and is also easy to grow, is very hardy and requires little water. The laurel leaves used for the Bitter all come from organic cultivation, managed without the use of pesticides, so as to guarantee authenticity and the absence of chemical residues.
Arbei Bitter is an absolute novelty on the market. It is the first Bitter made from an infusion of fresh bay leaves enriched with other typical local botanicals. The project's sustainability is also underlined by the attention paid to the packaging. The bottle is made from recycled glass, and the screw cap is from recycled wood, all ecological materials compatible with a circular economy. To the eye, it is light and bright green in colour with light golden highlights. On the nose, it releases an intense bouquet of laurel and aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean maquis. Elegant and fragrant, it expresses a limpid sip, characterised by laurel aromas and a slightly bitter finish.
