The group Golan Heights is located in Israel, in the small town of Katzrin. The Golan is one of the least visited area of Israel, but not for this reason less interesting and attractive, even with regard to viticulture. The Yarden winery was founded in 1983 and, since its inception, has been distinguished by the production of wines of considerable quality and long tradition, given that here the wine has really ancient origins. Just in obedience to tradition, this company is one of the few to produce only kosher wines: wines authorized by the rabbis and therefore drinkable even by Orthodox Jews. The vineyards are located on an area that stretches from the shores of the Sea of Galilee at the foot of Mount Hermon, to a height of from four hundred to four thousand feet. The rich volcanic soil and basalt allows excellent drainage of the soils and the temperate climate, given the immediate vicinity of Mount Hermon, are ideal for the cultivation of the vine. Thanks to the richness and uniqueness of this terroir, wines produced in this region have a fine structure and lend themselves very well to be aged. A winery that today is really a symbol of Israel and whose wines are a credit to this country.
