The Umani Ronchi winery is one of the most historic, biggest and best-known wineries in the Marche region. Its strength and the secret of its success lie in its continuous ability to renew itself and in its courage to challenge itself, continually improving its production and staying up to date with the latest trends, while keeping its feet firmly planted in the traditions of the company and the territory. It was founded in 1957 by Gino Umani Ronchi in the town of Cupramontana, in the heart of Verdicchio production, and today boasts vast properties not only in the Castelli di Jesi area, but also in the Conero and Abruzzo regions. For over 50 years it has been run by the Bianchi Bernetti family, who, thanks to the work of Massimo and then his son Michele, have been able to enhance the value of their wines and make them known worldwide.
The Umani Ronchi winery has successfully navigated through a historic change, converting hundreds of hectares of vineyards to organic farming, thanks to the expertise of agronomist Luigi Piersanti. The renewal and modernisation have involved the entire production, which has been able to combine the typical features of the territory, the varying character of the grapes and a modern and elegant style. Each production site has its own cellar, according to the principle of 'three cellars for three territories': Osimo, where the great reds are born; Castelbellino, the cradle of Verdicchio; and Montipagano, the site in the Abruzzo region.
The name of Umani Ronchi has always been linked to the excellence of two renowned wine specialities: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Rosso Conero, based on Montepulciano. In addition to these, in recent years wines from the Abruzzo region have also been produced from indigenous varieties and have immediately found great success. The identification and enhancement of highly suitable vineyards has allowed the Bianchi Bernetti family to focus increasingly on quality and territorial characteristics. After more than half a century of history, this winery has been able to maintain a leading role in the regional wine scene.
"Le dimensioni e i volumi non hanno mai intaccato la qualità e la sicurezza con cui Umani Ronchi interpreta il territorio. Per questo oggi è una delle aziende marchigiane con maggior dinamismo e coerenza stilistica"
