Tenuta di Carleone

In 2012, Austrian entrepreneur Karl Egger and his family decided to embark on an adventure in the heart of Tuscany, relying from the very beginning on Sean O'Callaghan, known as 'Il Guercio', to realise their oenological dream. Thus Tenuta Carleone was born, a project that combines tradition and innovation, with a strong commitment to sustainability. Organic and biodynamic principles are applied in the vineyard, without the addition of yeasts, clarifying agents or additives in the wines, grappa and olive oil. The result is an authentic expression of the land, which focuses on the purity and integrity of its products.

The estate is located in an enchanting corner of Tuscany, just outside the medieval village of Radda in Chianti, in the heart of Chianti Classico, between the cities of Siena and Florence. It takes its name from the small village of Castiglioni, founded by the monks of Badia al Coltibuono in 1078. On these historic grounds, the Egger family has carefully restored the old hamlet and the 'Pian Vecchio' farmhouse, where new white grape vineyards have recently been planted. The entire property, which covers about 100 hectares, includes 20 hectares of vineyards and over 10 hectares of olive groves, some of which are 100 years old, and offers a spectacular panorama of wooded hills, small rivers and fertile plains.

In collaboration with O'Callaghan, the Egger family creates a small artisanal winery, capable of capturing all the nuances of Sangiovese. Each bottle thus becomes a tale that goes beyond mere wine, telling a story of passion, respect for nature and attention to detail. Adopting a biodynamic approach, this wine project celebrates the rustic beauty of Tuscany and the authenticity of a place steeped in history, where tradition and innovation come together in perfect harmony.
