The Speri family represents a landmark in Valpolicella. Always linked to the territory, it has been interpreting the best traditions of this area of the Veneto for more than a century. The estate's origins date back to 1885, when Carlo Speri bought the first plots of land and the first vineyards in the municipality of San Pietro in Cariano, still the main nucleus of the estate. In the following years, the family continued to expand the property and also began to produce and market wine in the Verona area. The ancient farming customs have been passed down to the present day, and today the new generation, represented by Luca, Chiara, Laura and Giuseppe, takes care of all the production activities of the winery, from the vineyard to the cellar and the marketing of the wines all over the world.

Valpolicella was already planted with vines and famous for its wines at the time of the ancient Romans. The production area covers a total area of about 8,000 hectares and is located in the area northwest of the city of Verona, between Lake Garda and the foothills of the Lessini Mountains range. The area is composed of valleys that descend parallel from north to south towards the plain, forming a broad hill system, with splendid sunny exposures at an altitude between 150 and 350 meters above sea level. The climate is temperate, mitigated by the presence of Lake Garda and always very windy. Good temperature ranges favor excellent ripening of the grapes. The Speri family owns about 60 hectares of vineyards, all located in the Classica zone of Valpolicella, the one historically considered to be the most vocated.

To make the most of the peculiarities of each terroir, in the 1970s, Speri began to harvest and vinify the grapes from each vineyard separately, so as to enhance the characteristics of each parcel, such as Monte Sant'Urbano and La Roggia. The pursuit of quality has also led to modifying the traditional Veronese pergola, changing its inclination to encourage aeration of the clusters and ward off the danger of mold. Many vineyards are cultivated on terraces supported by dry-stone walls, which allow for simpler tillage and avoid soil landslides. Only the local indigenous grape varieties are grown in the vineyard, Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara in addition to the rarer Oseleta, Rossanella, Pelara and Cabrosina. Since 2015, the entire estate has been certified organic and can now also boast Sustainability Certification according to the Equalitas standard.

"Una grande famiglia composta da fratelli, cugini e nipoti, in cui l'amore per la Valpolicella e la dedizione per il lavoro di vignaioli è tramandato di generazione in generazione. Qui ognuno ha un compito preciso e in azienda si respira un clima operoso, ordinato, con una devozione rara per la misura"
