Albino Rocca winery was born in 1960, thanks to the same Albino, grandfather of the current owners. Heart and soul of this winery, with Albino, was his son Angelo, who came into the winery only at fifteen. Angelo was part of that generation of innovators that can turn the tide of Nebbiolo. Angelo was a forerunner: in 1986 he began to aged his Barbaresco in barrels, in 1990 he started to bottle separately his cru Ovello and Ronchi, then, in 2004, decided to leave the small wood, in favor of the German and Austrian oak barrels, looking for new balance and elegance. Measures that have made him a landmark in the crowded landscape of Barbaresco. So his untimely death in 2012 shocked all the national wines scene, lacking a prominent figure in the Piedmont and beyond. Today are the daughters Daniela, Monica and Paola, along with son in law Carlo, who leads with passion and love this beautiful reality of Barbaresco. All the lessons learned from Angelo allowed them to produce great wines, truly unique in character and personality, just like those of Angelo. The wines are the maximum expression of this terroir, because in the territory, according to the philosophy of Angelo, is the secret to create great wines: only with respect to the environment they can create unique and amazing wines.
