The Company Homer Moretti is located in City of San Savero Janus Umbria, a few kilometers from Montefalco. The company covers 25 acres, fifteen of which are covered with 4,500 olive trees, while the other 10 acres are devoted to vineyards, with 18,000 vines, from which the family Moretti gets about 30,000 bottles of wine each year. It is a small company with family character, led by Homer Moretti, his wife Daniela and their two daughters. The winery was founded in 1925, when the grandfather of Homer, who for years had worked as a bricklayer in Switzerland, decided to return to Italy and buy land to start farming: olive grove and vineyard, mainly. In the 60s the estate passed into the hands of the parents of Homer who continue the work of their father by planting more olive trees and vines, and, therefore, those of Homer. At the turn of 1992 and 1993, the turning point, wanted by Homer and his wife: the transition to organic farming. Today the whole production of the company is achieved by following biological criteria. As for the production of wine are made few treatments in the vineyard, where they are banned chemical fertilizers, only the natural yeasts on the skins in the cellar with a minimum contribution of sulfur and copper, the whole cycle of wine is made in the most natural way possible. Homer has recently renovated the old house of the grandparents to offer visitors the chance of a peaceful stay, both to learn about the beauty of the region, both to learn more about the company, its products and its methods of work: here the visitor can do short periods of work in the fields or in the vineyard.
