Fattoria Monticino Rosso is a winery in Romagna located in the hills of Imola, on the border with Emilia. It was founded in 1965 by Antonio Zeoli, with the purchase of an initial nucleus of land, identified as Podere Olmo. In the 1980s his sons Luciano and Gianno were the architects of a company renewal that led them to purchase another farm called Monticino Rosso, identified with this name already in the cadastral acts of the Napoleonic period. Today, this farm is the hub of the Zeoli family's production reality, so much so that it was given its name.
Today, the Fattoria Monticino Rosso comprises 37 hectares of land, 20 of which are planted with vines, the owner's house and a modern, environmentally friendly underground wine cellar. Here are modern, low-consumption facilities and structures designed to rationalise production processes. In the vineyard, the varieties cultivated are Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pignoletto and, above all, Albana, the area's main grape variety and the main source of pride for the Zeoli brothers. The main estate includes a small plot called Codronchio, named after the former owners, where the Albana vines, planted in 1985, are cultivated according to the traditional "pergoletta romagnola" system. From these vines comes the main label of the Zeoli brothers, the one that has consecrated them in recent years as the masters of Albana di Romagna.
All Fattoria Monticino Rosso wines are the expression of a hilly territory where Romagna meets Emilia: in addition to traditional Romagna expressions such as Sangiovese and Albana, Pignoletto is also present here. They are the result of artisanal work carried out by a family of winemakers who, over the years, have demonstrated great competence, becoming a reference point for many producers in the area but also for wine enthusiasts and lovers.
