The originality and excellence of the Cantina della Volta winery stems from the desire to produce high quality wines from indigenous grapes, primarily Lambrusco, while using the Classic Method, imported from France, or by traditional bottle fermentation. The winery was founded in 2010 by Christian Bellei, the 4th generation representative of a family of passionate wine entrepreneurs from Bomporto, near the city of Modena. The name 'Volta', or ''turning point'' in English, not only recalls the location of the winery (on the Naviglio Modenese, in what was historically a junction for navigation, where boats would turn around), but also signifies this generational change in the family.
The winemaking technique is based on a typically French passion for Champagne and the most sophisticated methods. The grapes come from a 9-hectare vineyard planted on a sunny, clayey and calcareous hillside, exposed to the varying temperatures of neighbouring woods. Cultivation is conducted here with the greatest care and harvesting is strictly by hand, to preserve the integrity of the grapes. The vinification process takes place in a cellar equipped with the most advanced technology and state-of-the-art facilities, starting with a soft pressing carried out by a Bucher Vaslin press. The ensuing processes involve the use of thermo-conditioned stainless steel vats, must refrigeration systems, an air-conditioning system for fermentation and a degorging line.
The wines of Cantina della Volta are distinguished by their extraordinary level of refinement and elegance, which are the result of a complex and rigorous process, but above all, by the true passion and talent of one of the most meticulous wine producers in the region.
