WHISKY SINGLE MALT BUNNAHABHAIN STAOISHA 8 YO ARTIST COLLECTIVE 2013 DESCRIPTION

The Single Malt Whisky Bunnahabhain Staoisha 8 Years Old Artist Collective is a whisky with distinctive peaty overtones. The Scottish distillery Bunnahabhain, which is part of the Artist Collective project, is located in the Islay region, known for its peaty single malts. Although the distillery was founded back in 1881, Bunnahabhain's first peat whisky was only produced in 2004 as a 6 Years Old called 'Moine', a Scottish Gaelic term meaning 'peat'. This 'Staoisha', named after the lake of the same name located a short distance from the distillery, is an evolution of 'Moine'.
Artist Collective Bunnahabhain Staoisha Single Malt Whisky 8 Years Old originates from pure barley malt. The malting process is carried out by soaking the barley grains in water to promote germination. In this way, the starches contained in the grain are broken down into simple sugars that can be transformed by yeasts into alcohol through alcoholic fermentation. The fermented grain is then distilled in discontinuous stills by the Bunnahabhain distillery and the ensuing 8-year ageing phase takes place in large wooden casks regenerated through the carbonisation process.
Single Malt Whisky Staoisha 8 Years Old from Artist Collective and Bunnahabhain has a deep amber hue. Marine hints of seaweed, notes of precious woods and hints of smoked bacon delineate the olfactory texture, enriched by sensations of coconut milk, anise and peat. The sip, bold and powerful, is rich, intense and oily, with sensations of sweet spices merging with characteristic peat puffs.
