'Tribute to Frida' Sylvaner Du Vin aux Liens constitutes a vibrant orange wine made in Alsace according to an artisanal production philosophy. This label represents the first vinified by Vanessa Letort, who relied on the Domaine Claude Straub following the advice of Claude himself. Vanessa approached the world of wine in 2014. After a series of meetings with people in the industry, she launched the Du Vin aux Liens project in 2019, based on collaboration with artisanal producers in Alsace and Loire. This bottle is a tribute to women, and Argentinian artist Ariel Cortez illustrated its label.
Claude Straub and Du Vin aux Liens' Sylvaner 'Tribute to Frida' is made from Sylvaner grapes grown according to organic farming principles on soils consisting of clay and granite. The vines, located within the municipality of Blienschwiller, are over 50 years old. The grapes are harvested manually at an advanced stage of ripeness and then transferred to the cellar, where they are vinified whole with 8 days of maceration on the skins. Alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts, and the mass ages for 10 months on the fine lees in old oak barrels. Throughout the entire processing and maturation process, no input is used, and the liquid does not undergo any clarification or filtration.
The macerated white wine 'Tribute to Frida' Du Vin aux Liens Sylvaner possesses a bright amber hue with orange hues. The nose releases complex hints of aromatic herbs, bitter orange peel, wildflowers, flint and faint mineral memories. Sharp and with great personality on the palate, where the enveloping softness blends with a pleasant mineral freshness.
