Franchina and Giarone's Rosso Frizzante "Iena" comes from this Modenese artisanal winery in the beautiful hills of Emilia Romagna. The project behind this winery is by Luca Pizzetti, who has been making wine since 2020, striving to provide the maximum expression of the territory of origin in the form of wine. The working philosophy involves minimal human intervention in the vineyard, with no use of herbicide, pesticides or chemicals that could alter the ecosystem surrounding the vineyards. The label features a stylized design representing the meaning of the wine's name.
The vineyards from which the grapes of Franchina and Giarone's Rosso Frizzante "Iena" come are located on soils mainly composed of clay and very compact, making cultivation difficult, but thanks to shrewd human intervention, it has become possible and lush. The climate is typical of the Po Valley, with hot, muggy and humid summers and harsh winters with sporadic snowfalls and frosts. The grapes are harvested by hand and in the cellar spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts in steel; it re-ferments in the bottle according to the dictates of the Ancestral Method, giving the wine a fine bubble.
The color of Franchina and Giarone's Rosso Frizzante "Iena" is pale ruby red with a fine, inviting froth. The nose releases aromas of red currant, strawberry and balsamic and mint notes on the finish; in the mouth there is a subtle tannin and a freshness to the sip that entices glass after glass. In pairing it is recommended with sliced meats from the Emilian tradition, light appetizers and first courses dressed with important sauces; also interesting with aged cheeses. Excellent to be consumed throughout a meal to share a product with authentic and genuine flavors on winter evenings in front of the fireplace in the company of stimulating reading.
