Momo Sakura Kodakara from the Japanese company Tatenokawa Shuzo is an exquisite fruit liqueur with a light and aromatic flavour, made in the Yamagata prefecture from high-quality cherries and peaches. In fact, the Japanese words 'momo' and 'sakura' mean 'peach' and 'cherry' respectively, two fruits that are a true excellence of the Yamagata prefecture. In fact, as much as 70% of all Japan's cherries are produced in this area, particularly those of the Satonishiki variety, characterised by a sweet and juicy pulp. As for peaches, the one used by Tatenokawa Shuzo is the Kawanajima-Hakuto variety, whose rather large fruit stands out for its pulpy texture.
The production of Momo Sakura Tatenokawa Shuzo Kodakara begins with the cultivation of white peaches of the Kawanajima-Hakuto variety and Satonishiki cherries. These valuable ingredients are pressed to obtain the juice and then combined with alcohol and vitamin C, as well as fructose, to give sweetness, and acidifier, to balance the taste and improve the shelf life of this light fruit liqueur.
Tatenokawa Shuzo's Kodakara Momo Sakura possesses a deep orangey yellow colour and is slightly cloudy. The nose offers intense, fragrant aromas of cherry and peach, persuasive notes that also characterise the taste development, also endowed with a suave sweetness and balancing acidity. The finish then stands out for its lightness and aromaticity. This fruit liqueur is best served with two ice cubes at the end of a meal or as an ingredient for innovative cocktails.
