Caprai's Sagrantino "25 years" is a great Sagrantino di Montefalco: a red wine with great structure and important tannins. After aging for 24 months in barrique, it expresses powerful and velvety tones, rich with hints of sweet spices and ripe red fruit. A great red wine that increases in prestige and importance in the Magnum version
Arnaldo Caprai's "25 anni" Montefalco Sagrantino is an icon of Sagrantino di Montefalco all over the world. The winery has been one of the main promoters of the revival of this indigenous Umbrian grape variety, Sagrantino, to which it has indissolubly linked its name in the name of excellence with patient and stubborn work. Arnaldo Caprai supports countless projects in favour of environmental sustainability in order to produce authentic wines that reflect the Umbrian territory in a transparent manner. Another requirement is also sincere love for the vineyard and daily dedication to it: without this ancestral component, none of this would be possible. "25 years" was first vinified in 1993 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the winery's foundation.
The "25 anni" by Arnaldo Caprai is a pure Sagrantino from vineyards located in the heart of the Montefalco wine-growing region in Umbria. Following manual harvesting, the grapes are transported to the cellar where they are pressed. The must obtained is fermented inside steel containers. The ageing phase consists of an initial period of maturation in barriques, which lasts 24 months, and a subsequent period in bottles of approximately 8 months.
Arnaldo Caprai Montefalco Sagrantino "25 years" has a dark, impenetrable ruby red colour. As dense to the eye as it is to the nose, rich with a layered and varied complexity. Notes of jammy black fruit, rose and cocoa follow one another, on a spicy array of pepper, cloves and cinnamon; a balsamic note of pine resin finishes off a bouquet that is, to say the least, ample. In the mouth, class is manifested by the softness of the tannin, which does not undermine the persuasive character of the sip but, on the contrary, enhances it. A good freshness denotes a capacity forfurther evolution that remains to be discovered.
