RIESLING TROCKEN 'LEGGER' CARL KOCH 2023 - 100CL DESCRIPTION

The Riesling Trocken 'Legger' from the German winery Carl Koch is a bottle that stands out for its great verticality and gracefulness, attributes that make this white wine very accessible. The grapes used to produce this label come from two plots located in the Oppenheim and Dienheim areas of the Rheinessen wine region. In particular, the main vineyard is located in Sacktrӓger, whose name, first mentioned in a document from 1541, derives from the guild of sack bearers, who brought loads of goods transported across the Rhine River to the city.
Carl Koch Riesling Trocken 'Legger' is made exclusively from Riesling grapes cultivated according to certified organic farming principles on different soil types, predominantly consisting of sand, clay and marl, with an abundance of limestone. Following harvest, the grapes are destemmed and undergo 6 hours of pre-fermentation skin maceration, after which gentle pressing takes place. The must thus obtained is conveyed into stainless steel tanks for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation, followed by maturation on the yeasts, also in stainless steel. Throughout the entire process, no clarification, filtration or tartaric stabilisation takes place, and the wine is finally bottled in a special one-litre format sealed with a screw cap.
Carl Koch's 'Legger' Riesling Trocken has a straw-yellow colour with greenish highlights. Reminiscences of white peach, pineapple, lime and aromatic herbs characterise the nose, surrounded by a soft minerality, while the palate is fresh, dynamic and ready to drink, with a pleasant savouriness.
