The Port Ruby by Fonseca Guimaraens is a full-bodied, beautifully structured fortified wine made by blending different vintages of Port aged on average for 10 years. It has a warm and intense personality, without oxidative hints, with notes of cherry, ripe fruit and vanilla in the foreground
The Ruby Port, made by the prestigious Fonseca Guimaraens winery, one of the largest and most renowned production houses in what concerns the making of this important Portuguese liqueur, is told in the sip and on the palate with a warm and deep soul. This is due to the final blend made with different vintages of aged Port, which add structure to a bouquet where ripe fruit notes alternate with an aroma of vanilla. A label to savour in the company of dark chocolates or even with a board of blue cheeses.
This Ruby Port originates from Touriga Nacional grapes, one of the most important varieties grown within the national borders of Portugal. The vines grow in the magnificent Douro Valley, east of the city of Porto. The must obtained by pressing its berries is only partially fermented and, due to the short contact with wood and little oxidation, retains its initial characteristics. The fortified wine obtained at the end of the winemaking process is then blended with other Ports from the Fonseca Guimaranes winery of different vintages, which mature on average for 10 years in wooden barrels.
The Port Ruby fortified wine made by Fonseca Guimaraens winery announces itself to the eye with a beautiful ruby red colour, vivid and intense. The olfactory spectrum is orchestrated on notes of small ripe red fruits and black currants, veering on the finish towards more spicy touches, from which a delicate hint of vanilla emerges. On the palate, it is intense, ample and full-bodied, with a sip characterized by a dense flavour and precious glyceric softness. A label that recalls in the most classic and traditional way the great fortified wine of Portugal.
