Ottin's Pinot Noir is an elegant, fresh and fragrant red wine with an agile and snappy drinkability. Notes of ripe red fruits, spices and mountain herbs emerge on the nose. The palate is soft and round, with pleasant tannins
From his cellar, located in the hamlet of Porossan Neyves, Elio Ottin dominates Aosta and its valley. Here he not only takes care of the vineyard, but also grows fruit and raises about twenty heads of cows. From his actions and his words it is easy to understand how important is for him the sentimental bond that unites him to this land and these hills. In the 4 hectares of vineyards, located between Aosta, Saint Christopher and Quart, the rows reflect Elio’s style, order and ideas. Which are all times to respect the environment, which is put in the foreground, so much so that currently the farm is entirely powered by energy from renewable sources.
Ottin’s Pinot Noir comes from grapes that are clearly not autochthonous in Val d'Aosta. But it is also born from the passion and love of the Ottin family for their land: here Pinot Noir has found a corner of land where it develops its particular and unique characteristics. The vineyard has sandy soil and is 700 meters above sea level. The harvest is manual and usually takes place at the end of September, the grapes are then moved to 30hl wooden vats and 20 hl barrels, where for 10 months it is vinified and aged, followed by another 4 months in the bottle.
Ottin Pinot Noir is a beautiful garnet red, intense and deep. The aromas emanating from the glass are fine and delicate, of red fruits with hints of leather and spices to make the bouquet intriguing and important. Elio’s wines are the mirror of his philosophy, as well as this Pinot Noir: balanced and fruity to the nose, it is long and harmonious in the mouth, with a clean closing and a very good acidity. Persistence and pleasantness are the indispensable traits that Elio tries to achieve with his wines, succeeding practically always. Only in this way it is possible to taste wines that are certainly among the best in the region, for quality and loyalty of the Aosta Valley terroir.
