PETITE ARVINE MAGNUM OTTIN 2021 DESCRIPTION

Ottin's Petite Arvine is a white wine from the Aosta Valley with a fresh and mineral soul, attributes characteristic of the variety and the terroir. Petite Arvine is a grape variety of Swiss origin, more specifically from the canton of Valais, imported to the Aosta Valley in the mid-1900s by Canon Joseph Vaudan, considered one of the architects of the region's oenological renaissance. It is a late-ripening semi-aromatic variety that prefers cool climates and high altitudes and has found an ideal habitat in the Aosta Valley, configuring itself today as one of the most widely grown white grapes.

Ottin Valle d'Aosta Petite Arvine is a pure expression of the white grape variety of the same name, grown on sandy soils of morainic origin between 650 and 700 meters above sea level. The vines, planted partly in 1997 and partly in 2014, enjoy excellent full-south exposure, which is essential for the proper ripening of the berries. Harvesting is done by hand in boxes in October, and the grapes are then transferred to the winery and subjected to whole cluster soft pressing. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 2-3 weeks at a controlled temperature, followed by maturation for a few months on the fine lees in the same type of wine containers.

The colour of Petite Arvine Valle d'Aosta Ottin is bright straw yellow with golden hues. Rich and varied hints of citrus, tropical fruit, mulberry blossom and sage emerge on the nose, followed by mineral and ginger notes. The taste is balanced, taut and deep, soft and fresh at the same time, with a pleasant savoury trail on the finish. A gastronomic white wine to pair with medium-aged cheeses, tasty fish or creamy risottos.
