Piantavigna's Nebbiolo 'Ramale' Torraccia is a red wine from Piedmont that patiently ages for 36 months in wood, acquiring body and richness. It tints the glass a deep ruby red, on the nose it expresses notes of ripe red fruit, berries, violets and spices, and on the palate it is dry, savory, with soft tannins and a long, intense finish. It can be drunk right away, but it can also rest a few years in the cellar to evolve and become more precious over time
The Nebbiolo 'Ramale' from Torraccia del Piantavigna is a prestigious wine originating from the Piedmont region, precisely in the Ghemme area. The production of this red wine takes place in the Maretta and Ronco dell'Ulivo vineyards, spread over approximately 4 hectares of hilly terrain. The Nebbiolo grapes are cultivated in clayey, fluvial-alluvial soils with an acidic reaction, following an eco-compatible cultivation philosophy. 'Ramale' presents itself as a rich, full-bodied wine with a unique character and distinctive style, guaranteed by a medium to long aging that places it among the great Crus of the Torraccia del Piantavigna estate.
The production process of Nebbiolo 'Ramale' from Torraccia del Piantavigna begins in the first two weeks of October with manual harvesting to preserve the integrity of the berries. After a soft pressing of the grapes, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Aging takes place in French oak barrels from Allier and large barrels of Slovenian oak for at least 3 years, followed by an additional 6 months of refinement in the bottle.
These stages give the Nebbiolo 'Ramale' from Torraccia del Piantavigna an intense ruby color, a balanced structure, and refined tannins. The deep color with garnet reflections is accompanied by intense aromas of ripe red fruit, floral notes of violet, enriched by spicy nuances of black pepper, coffee, and wood. On the palate, the wine reveals itself as dry, with soft tannins, excellent structure, and a well-organized progression of compact flavors, culminating in a long finish. This Nebbiolo pairs well with savory meat-based pasta dishes but also with aged cheeses and cured meats. Its versatility makes it suitable for substantial and more elaborate first courses as well.
