Merlot 'Solo' Podere Ranieri is a pure Merlot-based red wine produced in Maremma. With a warm and smooth sip, this wine strikes the nose for its broad and multifaceted bouquet, where typical ripe red fruit notes give way to pleasant herbaceous and mineral nuances, closing on spicy nuances of tobacco and pepper
In the Tuscan Maremma, among olive groves, woods and Mediterranean scrub, Podere Ranieri's Merlot 'Solo' is born, a generous and enveloping red wine rich in fruity and spicy scents. Merlot represents one of the most important black grape varieties in the Maremma area, and in fact from 2006 to today the area planted to this grape has almost doubled. In general, it is one of the most widespread grape varieties in the world, appreciated for its ability to adapt to the most diverse soil and climate conditions and for the soft, finely tannic body of the wines to which it gives rise.
Podere Ranieri Merlot 'Solo' is made from only Merlot grapes grown within the municipality of Massa Marittima following organic farming principles. The rows, located at about 60 meters above sea level, are rooted on soils of a silty and sandy nature on the surface, with the presence of clay just below and a general abundance of mineral substances. When the berries have reached the ideal stage of ripeness, manual harvesting is carried out, followed by classic red vinification with alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and a few weeks of maceration on the skins. Maturation, on the other hand, takes place in 300-liter wooden tonneaux and lasts for 12 months, followed by an additional year of bottle aging before final marketing.
Podere Ranieri's Merlot 'Solo' has a dark ruby red color with faint garnet hues. The aromatic spectrum begins with intense fruity and floral sensations of cassis, ripe red fruits, rose and violet, followed by balsamic hints and notes of tobacco and sweet spices. Soft, enveloping sip, supported by polished tannins and a pleasant mineral streak that persists for a long time.
