L'Avvelenata di Vigneti Massa is a red wine with intense and evolved aromas and excellent drinkability, characterized by a pleasant structure. Rich, intense and complex, it expresses with great expressiveness the territory from which it comes.
Vigneti Massa's Avvelenata is an iconic and satisfying Italian red wine, vigorously structured and endowed with great intensity. Walter Massa is one of the winemakers who have marked the way in Italian viticulture, and in particular for the Tortonese hills area, of which he is undoubtedly the main architect. His figure is almost inextricably associated with that of Timorasso, having been among the first to intuit its immense potential, even from an evolutionary perspective, although the idea of producing wines that would stand the test of time brilliantly applies to reds as well. Today there are just under 25 hectares under vine, planted to Barbera, Croatina, Freisa and obviously Timorasso, which alone occupies as many as 10, cultivated with the usual peasant nobility, that is, with a mixture of observation, common sense and reduced intervention. A legend, capable of maintaining a very high level of quality on all bottled wines.
The Avvelenata red is made from a red grape blend consisting of local indigenous grapes. As already mentioned, the agronomic approach adopted by Walter has remained unchanged over time, devoted to as little interventionism as possible while not seeking certifications of any kind, which Walter considers unnecessary constraints. In the winery, the same mentality is continued, with alcoholic fermentations occurring spontaneously and ageing in different containers according to types and evolutionary potential.
The wine Avvelenata presents itself in the glass with an unloaded ruby guise. Intense and characterful nose, endowed with gradual and engaging dynamics in which hints of blackberries, earth, field grasses and hay follow one another. On tasting, the liquid fully reveals its vigorous and vital soul, as well as its intensity, which drags in considerable persistence. Safety.
