Musso's Dolcetto d'Alba is a red wine born in the Langhe wine scene from careful hand-picking of grapes in the estate's vineyards, located in the hills of Barbaresco. A wine with an agile, dry and inviting sip, characterized by a fresh, fragrant and extremely fruity olfactory bouquet, in which notes of berries, strawberry and cherry stand out
Thanks to its affable and versatile personality, Dolcetto d'Alba from Piedmont winery Musso is a wine suitable for many formal and informal occasions. Dolcetto is a very ancient grape variety, probably originating in the Lower Piedmont region, which owes its name to the characteristic low acidity of the grape and thus of the finished wine, which is somewhat sweet when compared to other Piedmont wines such as Nebbiolo or Barbera, which are decidedly more acidic. In earlier times the spread of Dolcetto was far more solid, but following the viticultural crisis due to phylloxera, farmers preferred to grow Barbera because of its greater resistance to disease and higher productivity.
Musso's Dolcetto d'Alba is a 100% Dolcetto grown on hilly limestone-clay soils. The vines face southwest and are located between 230 and 260 meters above sea level. The clusters are hand-picked with great care and attention, as they become quite fragile when ripe. In the winery, destemming and crushing operations are carried out first, followed by temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats, combined with a short maceration on the skins of about 5-6 days. Once malolactic fermentation has also been completely carried out, the wine rests for several months, again in stainless steel, before bottling.
Musso Dolcetto d'Alba has a dark and brilliant ruby red color with violet hues. Aromatic bouquet intensely fruity in its hints of cherry, ripe plum and berries such as strawberry and blackberry, followed by delicate spicy nuances. In the mouth it is dry and inviting, with soft tannins and a characteristic pleasantly almondy finish.
