The Chianti Classico di Castello di Monsanto is an expressive and dynamic wine of high drinkability, aged for 12 months in large barrels. The tasting reveals aromas of blackberries, cherries, roses and violets and a warm taste, with good sapidity and balanced tannic structure
Chianti Classico di Castello di Monsanto originates in the small village of Monsanto, not far from San Geminiano. The castle dates back more or less to the mid-eighteenth century and represents an important prestige datum that adds to the quality of the work and attention to detail of the Bianchi family, which has been running the adjoining winery since the 1960s. Aldo Bianchi fell madly in love with the green landscape of the Collina del Poggio and decided to work this land to produce fine, quality wine. The work has been continued by his son Fabrizio and spouse Giuliana, who have been able to make the tradition their own, making some fundamental changes such as planting new vineyards, with an eye to the future and the generations that will succeed them.
The Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino grapes of Castello di Monsanto's Chianti Classico grow in vineyards located between 280 and 320 meters above sea level, surrounded by a rich and lush flora that allows important and varied biodiversity for a biological harmony that is fundamental for the good growth of the grapes. The vineyard in question is the Poggio, a vineyard used in 1962 for the winery's first harvest and, in fact, the only one to bear the design of the majestic historic castle on its label. Once the harvest is completed, the clusters arrive at the winery, where vinification begins in steel vats with systematic pumping over for about 20/22 days; it is aged in oak barrels for 18/20 months.
The colour of Chianti Classico di Castello di Monsanto is a deep ruby red with brilliant reflections. On the nose, there are hints of blackberry and cherry with a flowery finish characterized by rose and violet; in the mouth, it is harmonious, expressive and enveloping, with a good presence of tannins and a final savoriness that balances and balances the overall structure for an interesting drink. It pairs perfectly with traditional Tuscan red meat cuts cooked on the grill and first courses with autumn vegetable sauces. Excellent for romantic evenings in front of the fireplace, sipping in the glass the fruit of long and calibrated ageing.
