CHAMPAGNE BRUT NATURE MILLESIME JUSTIN MAILLARD 2018 DESCRIPTION

The Champagne Justin Maillard Brut Nature Millesime presents itself as a refined and mineral interpretation of Pinot Noir from the Côte des Bar. We are in Bar-sur-Seine, a town known for its fairs since the distant 12th century, now established as one of the most renowned areas in the Aube region for Pinot Noir cultivation. Young Justin Maillard initiated his own project here in 2016 with the aim of offering pure and authentic expressions of the grape variety and the terroir, always in pursuit of elegance.

The Brut Millesime Champagne Justin Maillard is produced with pure Pinot Noir grapes cultivated without the use of synthetic chemicals on limestone soils of Kimmeridgian formation. The clusters from the single harvest are vinified as white wine through gentle pressing and subsequent spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Once ready, the sparkling base is bottled with the addition of liqueur de tirage for bottle refermentation according to the prestigious Champagne Method, coupled with over 48 months of aging on the lees. The sparkling wine is finally subjected to dégorgement à la volée and subsequent topping up with the same wine, therefore without dosage. Throughout the entire process, invasive operations such as cold treatments, clarifications, or enzyme additions are excluded, while sulfur additions are very low.

The Champagne Millesime Brut Nature by Justin Maillard has a straw yellow color with golden hues and refined effervescence. Aromas of lemon, sour cherry, and almond describe the olfactory range along with mineral hints and complex notes of cardamom and pastry. The palate is intense and elegant, fresh and finely mineral, with a persistent citrusy finish.
