The Carema Classico 'Etichetta Nera' from the Canavese winery Produttori di Carema stands out for its exceptional freshness and accentuated aromas, characteristics that are daughters of the Carema alpine territory. This cooperative winery was founded in 1960 through the combined efforts of ten local winegrowers, firmly convinced of the area's viticultural qualities at a rather difficult time for viticulture and agriculture in general. Today, those efforts have been fully repaid and Produttori di Carema has become a landmark in the area with its current 101 members, of which 71 are grape growers cultivating on the just 13 hectares of total vineyard area.
Produttori di Carema 'Etichetta Nera' Carema Classico is an expression of pure Nebbiolo grown in the Carema basin on terraces well protected from wind and cold. Here, the soils are of morainic origin, the altitudes reach 650 metres above sea level and the form of cultivation adopted is the traditional topia, a pergola supported by stone pillars. In the cellar, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with about 12 days of contact between the must and the marc. At the end of the fermentation process, the mass remains in maturation for 2 years, one of which is spent in large Slavonian oak casks, before release.
The colour of Carema Classico Produttori di Carema 'Etichetta Nera' is ruby red with a garnet rim. Vivid notes of fruit in spirit, flowers and aromatic herbs emerge on the nose, enhanced by spicy scents of cinnamon and nutmeg. The softness and medium structure in the mouth are well supported by the intense freshness and smooth tannic texture. This is a red wine of excellent longevity, which can be paired with tasty risottos and various meat preparations as well as with platters of mature cheeses and cured meats.
