The Cannonau 'Thurcalesu' Berritta Dorgali is a red wine produced in the province of Nuoro from a careful selection of Cannonau grapes, vinified in steel and aged for 6-12 months in oak barrels, acquiring roundness and body. The nose expresses deep notes of berries, cherry, delicate spicy hints and hints of herbs, while the palate delivers a full, intense and enveloping sip, with a long and persistent finish and velvety tannins. An elegant and mature wine to accompany red meat or game
The 'Thurcalesu' Cannonau di Sardegna from the Berritta winery in Dorgali is a warm and soft red wine, characteristic qualities of Cannonau. Dorgali is a municipality in the province of Nuoro located on the central-eastern border of Sardinia, close to the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is a vast and heterogeneous territory that ranges from the beaches of Cala Gonone to the high altitudes of Monte Oddeu. Here, precisely within the Oddoene valley, the vines cultivated by the Berritta estate benefit from the presence of sea breezes and the predominantly granitic nature of the soils. The appellation 'Thurcalesu' is a tribute to Dorgali itself since the term identifies in the Sardinian language the people of Dorgali, the inhabitants of the municipality.
Berritta Dorgali Cannonau di Sardegna 'Thurcalesu' is a 100% Cannonau from vines that are about 25 years old and organically certified. The vines are planted on draining soils derived from granite disintegration and are located at an altitude of approximately 180 metres above sea level. Harvesting is carried out by hand in crates towards the end of September, and the grapes are then crushed, destemmed and mellowed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins for a minimum of 15 days, during which time daily manual punching-down is carried out. Maturation then takes place for 6 months in steel tanks and for a further 6-12 months in medium-large oak casks. This is followed by several months of bottle ageing before release.
Intense ruby red is the colour of Berritta Dorgali's Cannonau di Sardegna 'Thurcalesu'. Vivid notes of ripe red fruits, hints of aromatic herbs and Mediterranean maquis and spicy nuances describe the olfactory panorama. The taste is deep and ripe, with soft, velvety tannins guiding the lingering finish on the palate.
