Barolo Villero di Brovia comes from one of the most prestigious Additional Geographical Mentions of the Castiglione Falletto area, a real cru, famous for centuries for the excellent quality of its wines. It is a traditionally styled Barolo, still made according to the most ancient customs of the area, with ageing entrusted exclusively to the use of large barrels, without any modernist concessions. It is a version of Barolo that harmoniously combines elegance of perfumes and aromas with structure and taste persistence. It is the perfect synthesis of a great grape variety such as Nebbiolo and the magnificent terroir of the Langhe.
Villero Barolo is produced by a historic winery in the Langhe whose origins date back to the second half of the 19th century. The Brovia estate cultivates around twenty hectares of vineyards divided into various parcels, located within the communal territories of Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba, with vineyards in renowned cru such as: Rocche, Garbelet Sue, Ca' Mia and Villero, all characterised by sunny south-east or south-west facing exposures. The soil compositions vary from area to area, with different percentages of clay, limestone and sand, which determine the different profiles of the various wines. The utmost care in the vineyard and the accurate vinification processes that respect the raw material allow us to create labels with an authentic taste, pure and sincere expressions of the Langhe land.
The Barolo Villero wine of the Piedmontese winery Brovia comes from old vineyards of the cru Villero cultivated at an altitude of about 340 metres on limestone-clay soils. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and maceration on the skins for 15-20 days. The wine matures for 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks and completes its ageing with a further 12 months in the bottle. The colour is a fairly intense ruby red with slight garnet hues. The nose offers subtle floral scents, aromas of currants, raspberries, wild strawberries, liquorice root and hints of spice. The palate denotes a good structure, with a dense and elegant tannic texture, complex and delicate aromas. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasantly refreshing closure.
