BAROLO 'CERRETTA' ETTORE GERMANO 2020 DESCRIPTION

Ettore Germano's Barolo "Cerretta" is an absolutely outstanding Barolo in the Piedmontese panorama; a Barolo that fully represents Sergio, one of the most talented winemakers of his generation, capable of interpreting the Serralunga d'Alba terroir with intelligence and eclecticism. "The Langa is Italy's Burgundy: what needs to be communicated to the world is the great potential of this terroir"; within this sentence hides all of Sergio's philosophy and mission: respect for the terroir comes first; Sergio works to perfection in a generous territory capable of offering unique wines, but which must be safeguarded and protected from massive, standardised production. Ettore Germano's Barolo "Cerretta" comes from the vineyard of the same name, located between 350 and 370 metres above sea level, with south/south-east exposure.

Ettore Germano's Barolo "Cerretta" follows a fermentation in contact with the skins for about 45 days with several daily pumpings over, so that the colour and tannin that make the Barolos of Serralunga d'Alba so unmistakable can be extracted. This is a Barolo that matures for at least 24 months in small French oak barrels, 20% new, and then rests in the bottle for a further 15-18 months. An evolutionary process that brings to the glass a Barolo with a typical intense garnet red colour, with brief orange reflections; the nose releases interesting aromas of ripe fruit and vanilla, evolving over the years towards leather and tobacco.

Ettore Germano's Barolo "Cerretta" has a full, warm, persuasive, enveloping entrance and manages to be, thanks to the ageing in oak, tannic and soft at the same time.
